Music expresses feeling and thought, without language; it was below and before speech, and it is above and beyond all words.”  ~Robert G. Ingersoll

Family
I was born and raised in a small town in Michigan called Bad Axe.  I’m the oldest of three children.  I grew up living with my mom, sister, and brother, but we normally spent a couple weeks every summer in California with my dad.  I also have a niece who is three.

My mom was a teacher for 33 years.  When I was a 7th grader, I decided that I wanted to be a music teacher.  I had started singing when I was five, playing the piano in third grade, and playing trumpet in fifth grade.  I never wanted to choose between band or choir because I loved singing and playing, but until I got to college I had to choose.  I always chose band because I knew that I could continue singing solos, but I didn’t have any other opportunities to play in a band.

When I was 18, I graduated from Bad Axe High School and moved to Wilmore, Kentucky.  This small, private, Christian, liberal arts college is where I stopped choosing.  I could finally do both, and that’s what I did!

I recently got married to a wonderful man named Mike, and we are very happy!

Fun

I would like to think that I am a fairly well-rounded person.  Although being a teacher and learner takes up most of my time, I also enjoy:

Animals:  I have two cats (Shostakovitch and Vanitious Kanid) and two sugar gliders (Bach and Rach or Rachmaninoff).

Traveling:  I love going new places, seeing new things, and trying new foods.

Reading:  What are your favorite books?  I am always in the mood to read a good book (when I have time) so please give me some ideas!
